Here, history meets gastronomy. Chef Dandara Battista, a former journalist of Bahian origin, has done extensive research into the African origins of Brazilian cuisine. From her travels, she has brought back ideas that she has subtly integrated into the menu of her Afro Gourmet establishment after practicing her art on the road. Banana da terra ceviche, shrimp curry with leek rice, brought back from Mozambique, and Senegalese mafé are all very well served in her welcoming Grajaù establishment.
