Some places offer an insight into the sociology and daily lives of the people who pass through them. These traditional places, by definition, are history lessons. Beco das Sardinhas, for example, has been a popular spot in Rio since the 1960s, located in a small pedestrianized stretch of Miguel Couto street in the Centro district. Several small, often very simple establishments share their terraces and serve excellent grilled sardines (as in Sète or Casablanca) known as frangosmarítimos. To be enjoyed with a good draught beer!
