In this former industrial district, samba has always been played on Mondays, the workers' day off. At the heart of Afro-Brazilian culture, the Renascença club is the meeting place for true samba. The roda de samba brings in the best musicians and dancers. Few tourists are familiar with this venue, not even the hipsters who frequent the Pedra do Sal in the Centro. Authentic atmosphere guaranteed. You can eat acarajés, caldinhos and pasteis. The club is closed and secure, with cabs waiting outside.
