Long forgotten, Pedra do Sal has become a must-see. It's a historical and religious site, and above all an unmissable party venue. It's the heart of the Afro culture of Rio's slave descendants, where musicians and samba and chorinho singers meet right in the street. Every Monday, rodas de samba attract crowds of dancers and revellers, who come to drink a beer and eat a dish. It's a very charming place, surrounded by small colonial houses, cobbled streets and street art frescoes. The area is not very safe.
