between pedra do sol and cais do Valongo, Trapiche Gamboa is one of samba's best-known names ("the" samba, as the sambistas say). Trapiche Gamboa is a samba club housed in a superb, completely renovated property dating from 1867. On the first floor, you'll find the stage and numerous tables in the heart of the samba ao vivo atmosphere (excellent roda de samba on Saturday evenings). Here, you can enjoy the show over a cold beer or a meal. Upstairs, a quieter, more intimate space where you can nibble pasteis while watching the sambistas!
