IGREJA NOSSA SENHORA DA GLÓRIA DO OUTEIRO
Baroque octagonal church perched on a hill, housing a museum dedicated to religious art and emperors
Its unusual octagonal Baroque architecture dates from 1714. Perched on a 61-metre high hill, surrounded by palm trees, this church is the symbol of the Gloria district. It offers a lovely view of Flamengo Park and Guanaraba Bay in the distance. Blue and white azulejos decorate the interior; a museum dedicated to religious art and to the emperors who baptized their offspring here completes the visit. Please note: opening times are rather unpredictable..
