The beautiful home of Raymundo de Castro Maya, a wealthy patron of the arts of French nationality, has become a museum exhibiting works purchased during his lifetime, up until 1972. The museum is divided into 2 sections: European art and Brazilian art. Fine collection of paintings: Courbet, Rousseau, Matisse, Picasso, Dalí, Braque, Seurat, Degas, Miró, Modigliani, Léger and Dufy; paintings by Impressionists, landscapists, Fauves, Cubists, Pointillists and Surrealists; 61 drawings by Jean-Baptiste Debret. 18,000 m² of gardens designed by Burle Marx.
