PARQUE DAS RUINAS
A ruined house that has retained its original vocation as a cultural meeting place: an auditorium and temporary exhibitions
With its privileged location in the heart of Santa Teresa, overlooking the city, Ruins Park is one of Rio de Janeiro's most popular lookout points. It is, however, little known and rarely visited by tourists. Parque Das Ruinas is a ruined house, as its name suggests, the remains of the Murtinho Nobre palace. Today, this former palace retains its original vocation as a cultural venue: a 100-seat auditorium - and temporary exhibitions. A visit to the Ruins Park is an ideal prelude or follow-up to a visit to the Chacará do Céu Museum, just a few steps away.
