With its false air of a botanical garden, Lage Park is a superb park at the foot of the Corcovado morro. Small paths lead into the lush Mata Atlântica. This beautiful early 20th-century residence was designed by Italian architect Mario Vrodet for Henrique Lage. The marble walls and Art Deco bathtub in one of the bathrooms (featured in the 1969 film Macunaima) inspire students at the School of Visual Arts, who have taken up residence here! You can stop off at the adjoining café, under the protective gaze of Corcovado.
