BOTAFOGO PRAIA
Beach in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro, offering the chance to play soccer and volleyball on the sand
Botafogo beach, in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro, is little frequented because of its pollution, despite the superb view of the Sugar Loaf and a magnificent cove housing the eponymous yacht club. Today, Botafogo beach - or rather, the gardens adjacent to it - and the district's points of interest (museu do Indio, Rui Barbosa's house, museu Vila-Lobos) make this South Zone district increasingly attractive. Its location is exceptional, and the area is home to a growing number of trendy restaurants and bars.
