LARGO DO BOTICÁRIO
A bucolic colonial square with century-old trees, home to 5 Portuguese colonial-style houses currently being renovated
In this bucolic colonial square with its century-old trees, you can see five Portuguese colonial-style houses that have been renovated and converted into hotels. With their pastel-colored windows and quaint wooden balconies, they offer a glimpse of the Carioca urban landscape of yesteryear, as seen in Paraty, Ouro Preto and Olinda. A fountain and gas-powered lampposts add to the decor of the square, which is overgrown with vegetation. The eponymous Boticário was a pharmacist, a certain Mr. Da Silva. Shows are sometimes held here.
