MAMBUCABA
A pleasant little village with a colonial feel, now a holiday resort for the inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro state
This charming little village with a colonial feel, part of the town of Angra dos Reis, borders the pretty beach and the eponymous river. It is said to have been inhabited by the Tamoio Indians described by the German Van Staden in the 16th century. The village and the entire ancient site were classified by IPHAN (historic monuments) in 1968. Today, the old village is a holiday resort for the inhabitants of Rio State. From 700 inhabitants in the off-season, the population rises to several thousand in the high season. You can stop here for a bite to eat.
