Hike to the beautiful beach of Dois Rios, perfect for discovering the ruins of the penitentiary with its eco-museum
This hike leads to the beautiful Dois Rios beach, where two rivers ("dois rios") meet the ocean. Here you can see the ruins of the penitentiary, closed in 1994, and an eco-museum. It's a pleasant trail with an easy descent to the village of Dois Rios. There is a fine viewpoint over the village of Abraão (mirante de Curva da Morte). There are fish and seafood restaurants and sandwich shops. You can continue on to Caxadaço beach (you'll have to leave very early) or Parnaioca (you'll have to sleep on site).
