The finest building in the historic center, dedicated to the patron saint of Paraty, in neoclassical style
One of the finest buildings in the historic center, dedicated to the city's patron saint. The original building, erected in 1646, was demolished to make way for a larger monument, completed in 1712. However, the new church became too small and was rebuilt once again! The current building was completed in 1873, in neoclassical style. The towers remain unfinished. The inclination of the building on soft ground would have made it dangerous to finish the towers!
