ILHA DO JAPONES
Tiny island with a superb beach and a popular summer kiosk serving drinks and grilled fish
This tiny island has long been home to a single inhabitant of Japanese origin. This was enough to give it its name. Locals reach it by boat or by swimming across the canal; you can walk between the island and the opposite bank in the Passagem district, but beware of the current. A kiosk offers drinks and grilled fish. Tables and chairs are set in the water. Very busy in summer. On the other side of the hill, after a steep path, lies a superb beach, loved by surfers and naturists alike!
