In Brazil, Santos Dumont is known as the "Father of Aviation". This famous Brazilian aviator, a friend of the jeweller Cartier, made his name by flying around the Eiffel Tower. In 1906, he was the first man to fly for fifteen minutes in his 14 Bis. His house resembles a Swiss chalet. His staircase is a curiosity: Santos Dumont was very superstitious, so he had it built in such a way that you always had to climb the first step with your right foot.
