AUVERGNE WILDLIFE PARK
Animal park with a panoramic restaurant in Ardes, with a small train to explore the site, for a complete change of scenery.
With over 60 species and 350 rare and endangered animals, the Parc animalier d'Auvergne promises a complete change of scenery. The Himalayan Express, a small train, can take you all the way to the summit (access is subject to a charge and limited depending on the season). Alternatively, put on a good pair of shoes, cross the lion tunnel and continue towards the giraffes of the African plain, then the primate island and finally the tiger enclosure and the lemur forest. The visit is as close as possible to the animals, with immersion enclosures for lemurs, sika deer, chamois and ibex. As every year, there are new animals to discover: Fazan, the Atlas lion, and the Vietnamese Sika deer, a species extinct in its natural environment, with the hope of reintroducing it. A pair of Amur panthers, the world's most endangered feline, can be seen at the very top of the park, in Europe's largest enclosure for this species. This year, a new mixed-use enclosure has been added, bringing together binturongs, crested deer and Prévost squirrels. Many activities are offered, including feeding giraffes, lemurs, wolves and raccoons. The family safari and breakfast with the animals allow you to visit the park in a different way. Numerous themed events and weekends are also organized throughout the year.
Among the new facilities on offer in 2024, discover a superb vantage point from which to observe the giraffes all year round, even in winter. A new educational trail will take you behind the scenes of the animal kitchen. Finally, a virtual reality experience will soon enable you to project yourself into the animals' natural environment!
For lunch, head to the panoramic restaurant for a view of the animals. Snack bars and picnic tables are also available throughout the park. Four play areas, including one with a zip line and a brand-new one, provide children with plenty of fresh air.
For an exceptional evening, spend the night with your "head in the stars", in a comfortable room set up as close as possible to your favorite animals, such as the Sudanese cheetahs! The money raised is donated to associations that protect endangered species around the world. And €1.50 of every admission ticket is donated to programs that protect animals in their natural habitat.
