The Pampulha casino complex has been transformed into a museum with a collection of nearly 1,500 works.
This was Niemeyer's first project for the Pampulha complex. Initially used as a casino, it was converted into a museum in 1957. The façade is largely inspired by Le Corbusier's style and functionalist principles, while the interior is an interpretation of Mineiro Baroque. The Burle Marx gardens feature sculptures by José Pedrosa and Ceschiatti. The museum boasts a collection of almost 1,500 works. Only a few of these are on display.
