The epitome of Ouro Preto, the Pousada do Mondego is housed in a superb colonial residence dating from 1747, next to the São Francisco de Assis church. The owner spent 14 years passionately restoring her hotel. Inaugurated in 1988, it now boasts fine furniture typical of the Mineiro region, and a collection of Brazilian art (works by Guignard, Marchetti, Visconti). The terrace offers a magnificent view of the Itacolomi peak. There's also a bar, the Bistrô Conimbriga, where you can dine. One of the best addresses in town.
