CAPELA DO PADRE FARIA
This single church with a detached campanile is the oldest church in Ouro Preto, built in a working-class district.
This is the oldest church in Ouro Preto. It stands out from the others with a campanile detached from the church. Built between 1701 and 1704 in a working-class neighborhood, behind its simple facade of discreet doorway and unadorned pediment lies one of the most lavishly decorated churches in Ouro Preto. The interior is divided into a single nave with a vaulted ceiling, two altars and a chapel, which houses the main altarpiece, with its heavy gilding. In the cemetery is a large cross-shaped pontifical stone, unique in Minas.
