MUSEU DA INCONFIDÊNCIA
A museum in tribute to the Inconfidents of 1789, featuring 13 rooms richly endowed with a succession of objects from different periods.
The Inconfidência Museum is housed in the former Chamber of Deputies, built in 1785. It was created as a tribute to the Inconfidents of 1789. Here you can see the graves of 9 of the Inconfidência, a room dedicated to the hero of the Inconfidência, Tiradentes (you can see his cross of torture, his dentist's instrument, the martyr's book of condemnation...), and a succession of objects from different eras: sedan chairs, 18th-century tables, solid silver ciboria, military court dress. Magnificent wooden statue of Saint George, by Aleijadinho.
