The School of Mines of Ouro Preto was founded by the Frenchman Henri Gorceix in 1876 according to the model of the French school. In an annex of the beautiful building of the School of Mines of Ouro Preto, in Tiradentes Square, the museum exhibits more than 20,000 pieces of stones and minerals, from Brazil and the whole world. Divided into four parts: mineralogy, metallurgy, mining techniques and natural history, with a section on paleontology. A gold mine is reproduced in one room.
