Imposing, richly ornamented church with two quadrangular towers covered by a curvilinear pyramidal roof.

This church is considered the architectural and heritage jewel of Catas Altas. La Matriz is an imposing early 18th-century building in the purest tradition of Minas Gerais churches of the period, with two quadrangular towers covered by a curvilinear pyramidal roof. It is also richly ornamented. The main altar is in the Dom João V style, while the side altars date from the first half of the 18th century.
