BICAME DE PEDRA
Ruins of an aqueduct in Bicame de Pedras, 12 km from the center of Catas Altas, with a staircase built into the side of the gate.
The ruins of a stone aqueduct built in 1792 to supply the town can be seen 12 km from the center of Catas Altas, in the midst of a magnificent mountain landscape. The Bicame de Pedra aqueduct was built by slaves in 1792 to collect water from Serra do Caraça to Brumado, where gold was extracted and washed. Today, around 100 meters of the monument remain. A staircase built into the side of the portal gives access to the upper part of the aqueduct. The access road from Catas Altas is in poor condition.
