Diamantina may be a long way from the big cities, but like all Brazilian towns, it is well connected to the rest of Minas Gerais thanks to its rodoviaria. Passoro verde buses take you to Belo Horizonte in 5 hours 50 minutes. Others leave for the town of Serro in the Serra do Cipo. Gouveia, Itamarandiba, Sete Lagoas and Bocaiuva are other direct destinations from Diamantina. The Diamantina rodoviaria is located at the top of a hill. The journey is quite arduous if you're loaded, so a cab is an interesting option.

Simple but efficient bus station. Buses leave at the exact hour with driver and guide who records luggage at the beginning and controls the ticket on arrival. 6 buses per day Diamantina- Belo Horizonte. 98RS very comfortable bus (inclining seats, rest-legs, air conditioning). A 15min away for nature's needs but there is TOILET by bus.
