Residence between 1755 and 1770, home to the exuberant Chica da Silva and her partner, diamond merchant João Fernandes de Oliveira.
Between 1755 and 1770, this mansion-museum was the home of the exuberant Chica da Silva and her partner, the diamond merchant João Fernandès de Oliveira, with whom she had a trio of 13 children. A mulatto, a freed slave, Chica broke free from the conventions of the time by marrying into one of the city's wealthiest families and frequenting the same venues as her partner, among the ultra-conservative white elite. Chica da Silva was immortalized in Carlos Diegues' film of the same name. The museum is no match for the mineira heroine.

Newcomer at 17:00 we found closed door. The next day, disappointing free tour but: except for some texts talking about Chica Silva, nothing allows you to see in these large empty rooms the way of life of this period. part of the building is served by offices of Iphan (historical heritage).
