The old cowherd's market, built in the mid-19th century, served as a meeting place for local merchants to sell and exchange goods from other places. Today, the Mercado Velho still serves as the town's Saturday morning market. Here you can find traditional foods, handicrafts and a wide range of typical Minas Gerais products. In the evening, the market changes its appearance. The stalls are covered with typical regional dishes, bottles of cachaça and live music.
