The Caminho dos Escravos or Slave Route is a long road between Diamantina, Ouro Preto, Tiradentes and Paraty, built in the 18th century to transport the production of precious stones and metals. Fragments of these small stone roads, once used by muleteers, merchants and troops carrying precious cargo to their port of embarkation, can still be found today. Follow the Rua Salto da Divisa to the freeway. Superb views over Diamantina.
