In the heart of the Serra de Espinhaço, the Sempre viva National Park was created to protect the plants of the same name. According to research, 70% of the world's species of small "sempre viva" flowers are concentrated in this region. There are numerous springs from the tributaries of the Jequitinhonha River and beautiful waterfalls.
The park is home to endangered animals such as the jaguar, puma, maned wolf, giant anteater and armadillo.
