The Serra de São José is the jewel in Tiradentes' crown. Those who like to hike while admiring beautiful views are sure to enjoy a walk through the Serra de São José. Some trails start in the town of Tiradentes and continue to the top of the mountain. One of the routes is called "colo dos escravos" or "slave's tower". The walk takes around three hours. Old paved roads still serve as paths on this former gold route. There are many different itineraries, with or without a guide.
