Launched in 1997, the first line was opened in 2014 for the World Cup. Today, 23 stations are in operation on the entire 42-kilometer network. Line 1 runs from Lapa to Piraja, on the outskirts of Salvador, and line 2 of the Soteropolitan metro, connected to line 1 at Acceso Norte station, went into operation in spring 2018. It serves Salvador airport, enabling passengers to reach the city center much more quickly than by road. Wagons are comfortable, air-conditioned and safe.

The first line was extended and goes from Lapa to Piraja located in the North, near the highway that Salvador dessert. Buses are comfortable and air conditioned with presence of armed guards. One eagerly await the other line that serves the airport and will pass in the heart of the paths of the " Parallela" known for its jams.
