MERCADO MODELO
Originally used as a slave sorting center, the building has now become an interesting market for tourists
This building, which is adjacent to the port, was initially used as a "sorting" center for slaves upon their arrival in Salvador. One can still walk down the stairs to the humidity-ridden basement where they were kept while waiting for the auctions. After the abolition of slavery (1888), the building was used only as a customs house. Destroyed by a fire in 1986, it has been completely renovated and is now an interesting market for tourists. You can go there to do some shopping before leaving.

Enfin, je recommande les restaurants du dernier étage qui propose une savoureuse cuisine traditionnelle.
