Bahia's most mystical beach, protected by a beautiful coral formation and featuring natural pools in certain areas
Itapuã is one of Bahia's most mythical beaches, thanks in no small part to the success of Toquinho and Vinicius de Moraes' song, Tarde em Itapuã. But the reality is not quite as idyllic as in the song, and the beach is often crowded. The red-and-white silhouette of the Itapuã lighthouse can be seen from the beach, while the road to the lighthouse features mosaics by the visual artist Bel Borba.
