Built in 1630, this beautiful residence bears the name of Lieutenant João das Botas - who distinguished himself during the so-called do Funil battle against the Portuguese on 13 October 1822 - and is located on Praça da antiga Trincheira, now known as Praça da Quintada. The ground floor of the building houses the city's craft centre, where you can admire beautiful pieces of craftwork made from the island's shells.
