BEACHES

Itaparica is only the embarrassment of choice, but the most beautiful beaches are on the east coast of the island (opposite Salvador). An hour's ferry from Salvador, Itaparica and its beaches are being stormed when the summer comes and all are easily accessible, served by the main road crossing the island in its length. From north and south, here is a non-exhaustive list of recommended sites:

Praia do Forte, urban beach of the city of Itaparica, is quite busy and practical (we walk there). Not the most beautiful beach however.

Praia Ponta de Areia between Itaparica city and Bom Despacho (2 km) is shallow. There is plenty of fun and can be easily restored (including seafood).

Praia da Penha is suitable for surfing.

Praia da Barra Grande is the longest, probably the darkest in the summer.

Praia de Aratuba beach calmer for lovers of intimacy (concept all relative on the beaches of Itaparica).

Hid de Hid Praia, the southernmost of all, at the tip of the island, is what must make it so attractive to the thousands of bathers who hurry there.
