Church with Rococo facade, Baroque altar, azulejo ceiling and polychrome sculptures
In 1688, land was given to the Carmelites to build a religious building for the Carmelite Third Order. The church "da ordem terceira do Carmo" was finally consecrated in 1724. Like many baroque churches, it is richly decorated: baroque altar decorated with gilding, azulejos on the ceiling and polychrome sculptures (imported from Macau) representing the passion of Christ. The façade, in flamboyant rococo style, is also of Chinese influence.
