IGREJA MATRIZ NOSSA SENHORA DO ROSARIO
Church with naves surmounted by tribunes and a temple-type frontispiece, flanked by two towers with pyramidal ends
The construction of the church began at the end of the 16th century. It has beautiful azulejos, a remarkable painted ceiling by José Joaquim da Rocha. On the second floor, the Museu das Alfaias presents the remains of the Convento de São Francisco de Paraguaçu, dating from the 17th century. The church is rectangular in plan, with naves topped by tribunes. The frontispiece is of temple type, flanked by two towers with pyramidal ends, covered with tiles.
