Well, Itacaré is a bit further from Salvador de Bahia than Morro de São Paulo is. Perhaps this is what has saved it from mass tourism. Indeed, you have to go to the ferry station of Bom Despacho and from there take a ferry to Salvador. It takes almost a day, leaving in the morning.
From and to Bom Despacho, where the ferries to Salvador leave, the journey takes about 5 hours. From Itacaré, buses at 5:30am, 9am, 11am and 1pm, with a few more departures in high season. 7:20am, 11:20am, 3:20pm, from Bom Despacho.
