MUSEU DO DESCOBRIMENTO - CASA DE CÂMARA
The museum on the second floor is fairly basic, but provides a better understanding of the historical chronology of Porto Seguro's discovery
Completed in 1772, the "Casa Da Camara" in Porto Seguro was both the town hall and a prison (as evidenced by the huge bars on the cell windows on the first floor), the first in Brazil. The second floor is occupied by the Museu do Descobrimento, which is quite basic, and allows to better understand the historical chronology of the discovery of this part of the continent and to have a glimpse of the life in the region before the arrival of the Portuguese.
