ENGENHOS DE RAPADURA
Rapadura factories producing solidified sugarcane syrup, open to the public when the machines are in operation
The Brazilian Nordeste has been deeply marked in its geography, economy and society by the cultivation of sugarcane, which developed during the "sugarcane cycle" and continues to this day to a lesser degree. The factories of rapadura (solidified sugarcane syrup), a delicacy so widespread in the Nordeste, are largely located along the EC -040. In Ceará, a large majority of the production is destined to the production of rapadura. They are open to the public during the day when the machines are working.
