This cultural centre has a special dimension in Fortaleza. Its name evokes a Jangada whose captain Chico da Matilde succeeded in blocking the slave market in Fortaleza. The city's main cultural centre extends over 30,000 m². Cinema, shows, art gallery, café and restaurant. It also houses the Memorial da Cultura Cearense (a beautiful photographic and historical exhibition on the sertão man) and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
