TEATRO 4 DE SETEMBRO

One of the largest theatres in the country with 800 seats. It is part of the Clube dos Diários cultural complex. It was only inaugurated on 21 April 1894. The plan of the theatre was designed by the engineer Alfredo Modrak, and its façade incorporates neo-Gothic and neo-classical elements, an expression of the eclecticism in force from the 19th century onwards. At the beginning of the 1930s, with the advent of talking pictures, theatrical staging was greatly reduced. Open to the public from Monday to Saturday, for performances and visits.
