Square considered the heart of Teresina, a genuine meeting place for the population, home to the 4 de Setembro theater
It is one of the oldest squares in the city. The second emperor of Brazil, son of Pedro I and Empress Leopoldina, Pedro II became emperor when his father abdicated. He was declared an adult at the age of 15 and assumed the throne the following year. The square was previously called João Pessoa, Independência and Aquidabà. Pedro II Square can be considered the heart of Teresina. Pedro II Square is an authentic meeting place for the population, with an area of 3,875m². It is where the 4 de Setembro theatre is located.
