MUSEU DO REGGAE
Opened in January 2018 in the centre of São Luis, this museum dedicated to reggae and its history had already welcomed 10,000 visitors in 3 months of existence! The venue, divided into six spaces, is interactive and explores different facets of this music born in Jamaica and popularized worldwide by Bob Marley in the 1970s. We discover the evolution of reggae through the artifacts related to it (sound system, vinyl, clothes and accessories green-yellow-red, etc.) and its impact both in Maranhão - the state of the country most fond of reggae -, in Brazil and in the rest of the world. Many photos, videos and playlists. Rasta culture is also discussed and a room pays tribute to the great names of reggae who have disappeared. A museum that will please both amateurs and curious people!
