Housed in a 19th century townhouse with an 18th centuryazulejo façade, the São Luís Visual Arts Museum was designed to relieve the congestion of the Museu Histórico e Artístico do Maranhão and houses works from various periods: paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures by renowned artists such as Miguel Veiga, Dila, Antônio Almeida, Newton Sá and many others. The museum's collection consists of oil paintings, drawings, engravings, tiles and sculptures by Maranhão artists.
