PALACIO DA INSTRUÇAO
A magnificent neoclassical palace housing the Natural History, Anthropology and History museums
One of the most beautiful and interesting buildings in the city is surely the Palacio da Instruçao, on Praça da Republica, next to the Igreja Matriz. Built in 1914, it was used as a school for a long time. In the 1970s, it was the seat of the Secretariats of the Interior and Justice. In 1975, it became the headquarters of the Mato Grosso Cultural Foundation and housed the Natural History, Anthropology and History museums. Its ochre and white neoclassical architecture is magnificent. It also houses temporary art exhibitions.
