Amazonia Hostel is a good option for small budgets. Very well located, and situated in an old colonial mansion, it's safe, clean and the welcome is pleasant. Of course, it's not exactly luxurious - it feels like you're staying in a family country house with camping gas rings - but it's quite pleasant. 4 shared rooms (mixed or not), double and triple rooms as well. Internet, TV room, laundry facilities. For backpackers on a (very) tight budget, this is a good deal.
