CASA DAS ELEVEN JANELAS
Eleven-window house with gourmet restaurant, now hosting a contemporary art exhibition
Built in the 18th century as the residence of Sr. Domingos da Costa Bachelor, a wealthy man of mind, the "house of eleven windows" was acquired in 1768 by the government to be used as a hospital. Today it houses an exhibition of contemporary art. It offers permanent exhibitions in the Ruy Meira room. The view of the river is superb. A gastronomic restaurant opened recently within the walls of the house and adds a little more magic to the place by combining culture, nature and culinary know-how.
