CATEDRAL DA SÉ
Cathedral like a plaster cake, housing a Parisian organ designed by the famous organ builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll
The parish of Our Lady of Grace was created on July 28, 1617. In 1723, Dom João V ordered the construction of the cathedral by donating the sum of 60,000 cruzados for the realization of a beautiful building. Built in 1748, it has the timeless compactness of the Brazilian baroque. Only the outline of the door is carved in stone; the rest looks like a plaster cake, whose milky tone blends with the blue of the sky. A Parisian organ designed by the famous organ builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll can be admired here.
