MUSEU DO CÍRIO
Museum featuring a stunning ex-veto gallery, with over 2,000 objects linked to the Círio de Nazaré religious festival
In this museum dedicated to the Círio, you'll find over 2,000 objects linked to the religious festival of the Círio de Nazaré (literally: Candle of Nazareth, which pays homage to Our Lady of Nazareth), usually held on the second Sunday in October, during which a procession around an image of Our Lady of Nazareth is held in the city. It's Pará's biggest religious festival, celebrated since 1793 in Belém and part of Brazil's intangible cultural heritage. The ex-voto gallery is quite astonishing!
